Board of Directors

The Tilden School Board of Directors is responsible for governance of the school and the members of the Board consist of a group of volunteers who are responsible to sustain and enrich the organization in a manner that upholds Tilden School academic and community values.

 

The charter of the Board of Directors includes:

  • Sustain and enrich the academic and community experience of each student, and each family 

  • Partner with school administration on current and strategic initiatives

  • Support school operational matters, as warranted

  • Provide financial stewardship, guidance and accountability

  • Ensure the long-term success of the school

 

The Board consists of a group of up to nine individuals. Of these, four are officers. Terms of service are generally two or three years. The Board of Directors meets once a month, excluding the month of July. At least two board members are from among the current parent/guardian community and serve in the important role of representing the voice of current families. The Board may also consult other individuals who possess an area of expertise on a topical matter, or who may occupy a role that is integral to school operations. Such individuals serve in an Advisory capacity and may attend Board meetings on a regular or periodic basis.​​

  • Finance Committee
    This group regularly reviews school financials, prepares the annual budget, initiates and maintains school financial policies, and provides guidance on substantive and/or strategic financial matters.

  • Operations Committee
    This group supports, guides or directs initiatives related to the school facility and prepares, reviews, or supports school policy.

  • Marketing and Development Committee
    This group supports, guides or directs school marketing, outreach and development initiatives.

  • Human Resources Committee
    This group supports matters related to school human resources and is responsible for hiring with the Head of School.
